In April 2008 Dagenham Swimming Club did a sponsored swim for the Mayor's Charity. All the swimmers thoroughly enjoyed taking part and the club raised over £1000 for the charity. The Mayor was so grateful he came along to the Presentation Evening later in the year to thank the swimmers personally.
